Here is an opportunity for a varied position working across several categories and working 20-25 hours a week.
Aim of role:
The priority aim of this role is to develop products on behalf of this expanding food supplier and its associated brands.
Secondly, the role will be to support any customer own label product development.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
Creating product briefs by working with a cross-functional team
Formulating new products or re-engineering existing products by understanding how ingredients, flavours, textures etc. work together.
Planning, organising and overseeing process or production trials
Making improvements or modifications to current processes
Generating ideas for new products and researching feasibility in terms of profitability, resource availability and compliance with regulations.
Developing products which meet customer, consumer and category objectives.
Staying up-to-date with products on the market and advise on trends
Management of the project critical path.
Ensuring the internal and customer policies are met
Liaison with manufacturers to deliver the desired results
A good understanding of the nutritional composition of foods
Ability to understand technical documents such as specifications, laboratory results, packaging information
Manufacturers, distributors, warehouse operations
Customers as required
3rd party organisations as required
A food science or food technology degree.
Automatous, detail focused, driven/motivated, fast learner
Good English language skills
Excellent administration and IT skills

Good organisation skills and ability to manage own workload within tight deadlines
At least 5 years’ experience within industry of developing food products from concept to launch
A passion for food; cooking or eating out

Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workload

We are looking for a candidate who has either one or more of the following sets of skills/experienced in NPD/EPD:
Ready to eat meat and meat-based products
Ready to eat fish and fish-based products
Plant Based Alternatives
The individual should be able to provide evidence of a product development from concept to launch.
Working closely with technical, marketing and commercial teams, you will have experience of driving innovation which is supported by a solid understanding of food science and manufacturing processes.
You’ll be comfortable working in a customer facing role, be passionate about food with a demonstrable knowledge of products, and ingredients.
